This paper contributes to the development of issues ‘regeneration’ and ‘densification’ of social and public housing heritage with particular reference to some practices, conducted by our research team on energy efficiency, bioclimatic architecture, environmental sustainability as support of experiences already realized or in construction in the centre of Italy, among which we choose to present three examples of this approach: the first executed in the municipality of Senigallia, for the ERAP of Ancona (the Regional Institute for Public Housing), the second conducted and currently underway for the ex-XVII Municipality of the City of Rome and the third taking place in the City of Florence, for which the research team worked together with Casa Spa - managing institution of the ERP Florentine (Institute fro Public Housing) – on scientific support activities for the process of building increase and urban densification of its actual housing condition. The common goal of all these experiences is to provide methods and tools to operate evaluations and bioclimatic, energy and environmental optimization choices with regard to the specific character of different contexts. Focal node of these studies is the framework of strategies and technologies processing, made of easy-to built, low-cost (for construction and management cost) technology solutions but also innovative proposal for performances, supported by the use of targeted computational simulation of the overall energy, thermodynamic and fluid dynamic behaviour of the ‘regenerated’building.
